In late April of 2014, I flew to NYC to attend the annual conference of the National Association of Professional Women, where I was honored to receive the VIP Women of Excellence Award for the Western Region of the United States. With over 500,000 members, the NAPW is the largest networking organization of female professionals in the country. Hundreds of qualified women applied for the award but only 5 were chosen, each from different regions of the US. Although from different places and backgrounds, what we all have in common is a dedication to helping other women live happier, healthier, more inspired and successful lives.

Star Jones, newly appointed president of the NAPW, did an excellent job hosting the conference which was filled with filled with incredible speakers such as Barbara Corcoran, Randi Zuckerberg and Icon Award winner Robin Roberts. There were over 1500 members in attendance, and each one of us was fed a full meal of inspiring stories that properly nourished the entrepreneurial spirit in all of us.

Here I am above with one of my favorite speakers of the day, Dr. Michelle Kennedy of Power Living Enterprises, Inc. She is a yogi, inspirational speaker, strategist, communications expert and award winning social entrepreneur and academic.

The greatest lesson I came away with from the conference was the idea that the only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves. There is no reason we can't thrive doing multiple things that we love. No longer do we have to fit our identities into two dimensional square boxes,  because we live in a multiple-dimensional universe where every kind of shape or definition you can imagine for yourself can and is indeed possible. So say we all!
